Our small group for an adventure in Thailand!
We rode elephants, played with tigers, explored the temples, met the infamous Long- Neck tribe villagers, learned to cook Thai food and so much more!!
01/06/18 (Saturday) – Grand Palace and Temples (Bangkok)
We spent the day visiting the many different sites and treasures of Bangkok. Stops included the Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and Wat Trimitr (the Golden Buddha).
01/07/18 (Sunday) – Ayutthaya (Bangkok)
Just an hour’s drive north of Bangkok, Ayutthaya makes for a wonderful day trip. This ancient Siamese capital is famous for its history-rich temple ruins and summer palaces. We spent the day exploring the area and the different Wats with a midday break to enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant.
01/08/18 (Monday) – Duamnoen Saduak Floating Market and Tiger Zoo (Bangkok)
Ninety minutes from our hotel lies the Duamnuen Saduak Floating Market. Here we were fascinated by boats of various shapes and sizes used by local merchants to ferry their goods.
01/10/18 (Wednesday) – Phi Phi Islands (Phuket)
We visited the famous Phi Phi Islands and their crystal blue waters, made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie “The Beach”. We had roughly an hour-long private speedboat ride to get there from Phuket. We spent some time kayaking and exploring the islands.
01/12/18 (Friday) – Flight to Chiang Mai / Cooking Class (Chiang Mai)
A cooking class at one of the best rated schools in Chiang Mai where we had a choice of courses to prepare and eat. On the way to our class we stopped by a local market and were introduced to the unique variety of ingredients available in Thailand.
01/13/18 (Saturday) – Elephant Safari Tour (Chiang Mai)
We visited the Elephant Camp to see elephants at work and play (painting pictures with their trunks, playing football and working with logs). Afterward, we enjoyed an elephant ride for one hour through the jungle. Up next was a bamboo rafting trip along the Mae Ping River to relax and see the views on both sides of river.
01/14/18 (Sunday) – Long Neck Tribe
We visited the women of the Long Neck Tribe, famous for their brass coil worn around their necks.
