Day 4: Tuesday, January 26 Fez to Merzouga and into the Sahara Dunes
Your guide and driver will collect you in the morning from your hotel in Fes. Your vehicle has air conditioning, so you will be comfortable on the long (about 8 hours) yet beautiful drive to Merzouga, Southern Morocco. We will stop in the town of Ifrane, which is often referred to as the “Moroccan Switzerland” due to its houses with sloping roofs. These are not typical in Morocco.
Later, we reach Midelt, where we may stop for lunch. This whole area is well known for apple trees. Then it’s back to the car! We continue driving south, arriving at the Errachidia province and the Ziz Valley, known for its date palm trees. The most expensive and biggest Medjoul dates come mainly from this area. Later in the day, we reach Rissani and pass the famous gate to the desert dunes of Erg Chebbi by Merzouga. Here we travel into the desert in our 4WD vehicle to reach the camp for the night. Settle in and enjoy dinner under the African sky, the warm campfire, and traditional drum music.

Day 5: Wednesday, January 27 Sahara Desert
Your day begins with a deeper exploration of the desert, starting with a visit to a hidden oasis where clusters of palm trees and natural water sources create a striking contrast against the surrounding dunes. This peaceful setting offers insight into how life endures in the Sahara, with small agricultural plots and traditional irrigation still in use.
Continue to a fossil workshop near Erfoud, where artisans reveal the region’s prehistoric past through beautifully preserved marine fossils once formed beneath an ancient sea.
Midday, enjoy a privately arranged luxury picnic set among the dunes, featuring shaded seating and a relaxed meal in complete seclusion.
In the late afternoon, return to camp and set out on a camel ride across the golden dunes at sunset. The gentle pace and shifting light create a serene and memorable close to your day in the Sahara.

Day 6: Thursday, January 28 Sahara Desert to Skoura

Early wake-up to watch the sunrise, followed by breakfast. Then we will head towards Skoura. After Merzouga, A 4×4 vehicle will transfer you back to Erfoud, where your private vehicle will wait for your onward journey. En route, you will stop at the Dadès Valley, which stretches the imagination. From the daunting High Atlas to the north to the rugged Jebel Saghro range south, the valley is dotted with oases and mudbrick palaces that give the region its fairy-tale nickname – Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. Located between the chains of the High Atlas and Jebel Saghro, Tinghir offers many opportunities for trekking. Your guide will advise on the trekking opportunities.
Skoura is a town in Ouarzazate Province, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco. Skoura is a fertile oasis lined with immense palm groves. The Kasbah Amerhidil is part of the Skoura palm grove.

Day 7: Friday, January 29 Skoura to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou and evening visit to the The Square, Jemaa el Fna, and the Markets
Today, we begin our drive to Marrakech (approx. 4 1/2 hours). En route, we stop at Ait Benhaddou. With the help of some Hollywood touch-ups, this UNESCO-protected red mudbrick ksar 32km from Ouarzazate seems frozen in time, still resembling its days in the 11th century as an Almoravid caravanserai. Movie buffs may recognize it from Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth (for which much of Aït Benhaddou was rebuilt), Jewel of the Nile (note the Egyptian towers), and Gladiator. A less retouched kasbah can be found 6km north along the tarmac from Aït Benhaddou: The Tamdaght kasbah, a crumbling Glaoui fortification topped by storks’ nests. We will make an included lunch stop en route.
You will travel through the collar of Tizi Tichka, the highest passage of Morocco and all of North Africa, as you cross over the High Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Marrakech and check in to your hotel.
Tonight, visit The Square, Jemaa el Fna, and the Markets. Jemaa el-Fna, roughly translated as the Assembly of the Dead, is the main open space in Marrakech and is as old as the city itself. At once the scene of public executions in ancient times, and the city’s cultural epicenter, it’s thronged day and night with a carnival of local life, including snake charmers, dentists, scribes, herbalists, musicians, storytellers, and beggars. We then visit the souks, or traditional market, the largest one in Morocco. It is, in turn, subdivided into some 18 souks, each one of them devoted to a specific trade or craftsmanship – from spices or ironwork to the ingredients necessary for casting magic spells.
You will also enjoy an included dinner overlooking the square.

Day 8: Saturday, January 30 Majorelle Gardens, YSL Museum, Side Car Adventure and Walking in the Medina

Enjoy breakfast this morning, and then we will visit the YSL Museum and Majorelle Gardens.
Yves Saint Laurent Museum:
“Marrakech taught me color,” said Yves Saint Laurent, who bought a cobalt blue villa in the Moroccan city and made it his vacation home in 1966. “Before Marrakech, everything was black.” This can be seen in the sprawling collection of couture, accessories, sketches, and photographs on display at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent in Marrakech. The museum shows creative masterpieces that span the late designer’s 40-year career, from 1962 until his retirement in 2002. (He passed away six years later, in 2008.) Next door to the Majorelle Garden and steps away from his private villa, roughly 1,000 items from Saint Laurent’s studio are on view at the $17 million terra cotta museum designed by Studio KO architects. You will have a private Art Curator with you during this visit.
Jardin Majorelle-Yves Saint Laurent Mansion:
The garden was made in the 1920s by the French painter Jacques Majorelle, with marble pools, raised pathways, banana trees, groves of bamboo, coconut palms, and bougainvillea. Perhaps unsurprisingly, as the garden was designed by a painter, the garden is composed and colored like a painting. Many of the built features were painted in a dark blue (‘Majorelle Blue’), which works very well with the soil, climate, and plants. In fact, Majorelle’s garden, rather than his paintings, was his masterpiece. Water is an important feature of the garden – there are channels, lily-filled ponds, and fountains. Majorelle was an avid plant collector.
Then, get ready for your exciting and unique Sidecar adventure. Traveling by vintage sidecar around the back streets of Marrakech is one of the most unique ways to explore the city. This private 1-hour ride puts you in the sidecar of a classic motorcycle with a guide showing you the local life. Learn about Moroccan culture and visit hidden-away spots the tour buses can’t reach. Your ride is tailor-made, 100% off the beaten path, and designed according to your level of knowledge of the area and your centers of interest. On this ride, we will take you to our favorite spots in the Medina, the Guéliz district, and the palm grove.
After your ride, continue on foot with a guided walk through the Medina, allowing you to experience its atmosphere at a slower, more immersive pace. Wander through the labyrinth of narrow alleyways, vibrant souks, and artisan workshops, where craftsmen practice centuries-old trades. This walk offers a deeper connection to daily life in the old city, with opportunities to browse local goods, observe traditional techniques, and take in the sensory richness that defines Marrakech’s historic heart.

Day 9: Sunday, January 31 Marrakech at Leisure
Enjoy the day at leisure with your guide and driver at your disposal.
Meals Included Today: Breakfast
Day 10: Monday February 1:.A Day in the High Atlas Mountains
Today, enjoy a full day in the High Atlas, North Africa’s greatest mountain range, which contains some of the most intriguing and beautiful regions of Morocco. A historical and physical barrier between the northern plains and the pre-Sahara, its Berber-populated valleys feel – and indeed are – very remote from the country’s mainstream or urban life. Mud-thatched Berber villages and remote pinnacles aren’t the only draws here. The landscape varies from season to season: winter drops meters of snow that lead to gushing river valleys in spring; summer brings an unforgiving sun, while the autumnal sunlight brings the browns and reds of the peaks to life.
Once you arrive there, you will have the option of trekking around the Berber villages and enjoying lunch at a traditional Berber home.
Return to Marrakech for overnight.
